Tunnel Through Time

2016 marked the 60th anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. The Tunnel Through Time was built in Toronto to commemorate the historic event and the 37 565 Hungarian refugees who fled to Canada in the aftermath of the uprising. The installation, which combined elements of the Hungarian flag and Canada’s national symbol, the maple leaf, also paid tribute to Canadians and their generosity in welcoming Hungarian refugees into their country.
