Royal Institute of British Architects’ Jencks Award
“Tough, warm, surprising, complex and open-ended architecture that is very much like the city from where it springs, Barcelona.” – world famous architect Charles Jencks stated, when he gave the Royal Institute of British Architects’ annual Jencks award to Benedetta Tagliabue. This prestigious award was previously given to Zaha Hadid and Rem Koolhas among others. Benedetta Tagliabue is one of the best known contemporary architects. Her buildings include the New Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh, the Diagonal Mar Park, the Santa Caterina market in Barcelona, and the Spanish Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo which was awarded the prestigious RIBA International “Best International Building of 2011” award. In 2014 Tagliabue’s office, Miralles-Tagliabue EMBT was present at Hello Wood’s architecture camp: Salvador Gilabert Sanz, one of the leading architects of EMBT mentored a group of Hungarian and international students for a week.
