Aerth Saunas

A hidden oasis in the heart of Victoria

Hello Wood & Canada

Canada is not unfamiliar ground for Hello Wood. After creating a commemorative wooden installation in Toronto in 2016, Aerth Saunas marks a new architectural collaboration between the Budapest-based studio and Canada, bringing Hello Wood’s timber architecture to Victoria, British Columbia.

A Vision for Community

The project was initiated by Hungarian-born entrepreneur Viktória, founder of Ærth. Her vision was to create more than a spa, a place where people can meet, breathe, and reconnect, combining European sauna culture with the open, nature-oriented spirit of the Pacific Northwest.

Architecture Inspired by Nature

Responding to the unique urban site, the buildings take on the organic form of scattered leaves. Their soft geometry and layout feel as if they were gently placed by the wind, allowing the architecture to naturally fit into the space.

Transforming an Urban Space

The project reimagines a narrow, underused alleyway and turns it into a serene sauna village. With seven cabins, outdoor baths, and garden spaces, the design transforms a once-forgotten concrete site into a hidden oasis in the heart of Victoria.
