Rock Cinema

The design aimed to utilise the unique site condition of the basalt quarry. Kőmozi was placed around the edge of the crater and responded to the immediate environment. It brings attention to what was once demolished and reconstructs “the ghost of the stone face”. 50% of Kő Mozi is the Rock face, while the other half is the wooden structure, a viewing platform from which one can view the rock face. In the daytime, the installation invites you to face the vertical basalt landscape while at night distorted projections on the rock face bring attention to what is both a natural and a man-made scar. The Hello Wood summer school and festival participants were invited to relax between stones and friends, or both.
