Hello Planet
We have launched sustainable student stsrtups in our joint camp with the Blue Planet Foundation. After the success of the 2020 Contact Green Design Camp, in the summer of 2021, we have organized our joint event for the 15-18 age group for the second time. During the Hello Planet Startup Design Camp - already building on the growing climate awareness of the young generation and their awareness of sustainable living - we introduced the campers to the basics of starting responsible startups through hands-on, experiential education. In addition to learning design thinking and design skills, it was important that the one-week camp also gave young people the opportunity to build up community experiences.
Nowadays, the sustainable operation of businesses must no longer be just an option, but an unavoidable business goal, which is a key task for the future leaders and founders of companies. To this end, our campers took part in inspiring performances on the first day of the camp, where they got to know first-hand businesses that were operating responsibly. Albert Wettstein talked about their company, Munch, which eliminates food waste in restaurants, while Emese Pancsa, co-founder of Compocity, introduced campers to their composting eco-robot. Through his own example, Tamás Trunk “Dablty” talked to his contemporaries about the possibilities of Gen Z.
Nearly 60 campers from Hello Planet worked in teams on their startup ideas within the design workshop of their choice and the sustainability theme provided.
The teams could participate in textile design, graphics, animation, photography or design workshops, during which they designed and created product prototypes under the guidance of designers. Mentors helped students develop startups during lectures and sessions. The young people got to know the design thinking methodology from Rita Szerencsés (MOME), while Gabriella Sódar (Blue Planet Foundation) introduced them to the creation of personas. Dorka Gerencsér (Edison Platform) talked about customer journey, and business consultant Oliver Sziller helped the teams compile the business model canvas.
