The team of Lava Cloud worked with three materials integrated into one system (rock, wood, and air) to create an ephemeral intervention that questions the act of building and its resources. They explored stacking stones, joining beams and building with air. As the result of the experimentation, huge wooden beam trios supported the pneumatic red cloud (that provided shelter from the sun) and created a forest-like installation that seemed to take over the crater slowly. The colourful pneumatic structure was fabricated in Mexico City and transported in a check-in suitcase, limiting the size of the Lava Cloud’s central part to approximately 10m in diameter.
